CHP in Erdoğan's crosshairs... A jab at the party congress

Speaking at the ceremony held for the opening of the Halkalı–Istanbul Airport Metro Line, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the new line's contributions to Istanbul's transportation. Erdoğan announced that the line will be free of charge until July 31.

Drawing attention to the traffic congestion in Istanbul during his opening speech, Erdoğan stated, "We will ease the traffic in Istanbul, which has turned into an ordeal under incompetent administrators. Istanbul cannot wait, it cannot tolerate neglect, and it has no patience for a lack of vision. We are determined to produce solutions to the chronic problems in the city. We will not allow Istanbul to be crushed under a tangle of problems, especially in traffic."

Stating that with the entry into service of the metro section between Halkalı and Arnavutköy, one of the longest metro lines in the world has been completed, Erdoğan noted that the project will provide a total of 117 million hours of time savings over 25 years, and its economic contribution will reach 935 million euros.

Targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality administration, Erdoğan said, "Every new metro line brought to our city is an important step toward reducing the unbearable nature of Istanbul's traffic. We will not leave Istanbul to its own devices."

Erdoğan did not neglect to touch upon the recent internal party debates within the CHP and used the following expressions:

"Trying to lecture us on foreign policy is way beyond your pay grade. Go pursue matters that suit your capacity and caliber. For instance, play musical chairs or fight over conference halls. If you can manage it, first learn how to hold a congress without controversy. While you were fighting among yourselves for seats, we were fighting to calm the conflicts in our region through the delicate diplomacy we conducted."
