CHP initiates process to determine presidential candidate! When will the program and method be announced?

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel presided over an extraordinary meeting of the CHP Party Assembly held at the Istanbul Provincial Headquarters.

Following the arrest and imprisonment of Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, it has been learned that the CHP, which has ended its 'softening' policy and declared it will adopt a 'tough stance', has decided at the Party Assembly to determine its "government program" and "presidential candidate".

IMPORTANT STATEMENTS FROM CHP'S FIRAT

CHP Party Assembly member Ali Haydar Fırat made notable statements during a program he attended on TV 100.

Responding to the question, "Will the CHP's candidate be known within a few months?", Fırat stated that CHP leader Özgür Özel will hold a meeting on Tuesday.

Fırat continued his remarks as follows:

"We will announce our government program within a few months. That is, what are Turkey's problems? How do we define these problems, and what are our solutions to them? Our chairman will hold a meeting on Tuesday at 13:30.

He will explain the method for how the candidate will be determined. As you know, 100,000 signatures could be collected. It could be a method where CHP members vote.

So, within a few months, the program, the method, and depending on subsequent developments, the candidate. Therefore, we are in the midst of such a process. We discussed these today."
