CHP leader Özel speaks on the lawsuit filed against him: Statement from DEM Party on İmralı!

The meeting between DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has concluded.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel met with Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan.

A joint press conference is being held following the meeting, which lasted approximately 2 hours:

"The trustee system is moving toward a form of governance. This issue is not just the DEM Party's, it is all of our issue.

By making legal regulations, we can get rid of this trustee problem."

Özgür Özel made the following statements:

"We all see that the perception created in the first days across Turkey has changed significantly and that the appointment of trustees is not well-received in survey evaluations.

These days, 10 opposition parties in Parliament came together and submitted a legislative proposal. For those whose judicial process has not been completed, the judicial process continues. But they should continue their duties."

HE ADDRESSED AKIN GÜRLEK

Responding to a question about the Akın Gürlek investigation opened against him, Özel said, "He has filed a public lawsuit against me. He claims that I insulted him regarding his duty. Is it your duty to be an apparatus of the Palace? I invite him to work in another field."

CALL TO THE AKP

Stating that they find MHP member Feti Yıldız's statement regarding the regulation of the trustee system 'valuable,' Özgür Özel made a call to the AKP.

Özel said, "New trustee steps have no place in the conscience of the nation. We can start discussing the legal work on the 9th and finish it before entering the parliamentary budget negotiations. We are waiting for a positive step from the AKP regarding this step taken by the opposition last week. We expect a step that does not diverge from the MHP," he said.

"IT MUST BE DISCUSSED IN PARLIAMENT"

Regarding the discussions on the resolution of the Kurdish issue, Özel said, "I said that a transparent, sincere process should be managed and that the process should be discussed in Parliament. I had said that the families of martyrs and veterans should also be included in the process, but they said they would not forgive it if this were used for politics or turned into political interests," he said.

NO RESPONSE TO OUR APPLICATION

DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan responded to the question regarding the party's request for İmralı and made the following statements:

There has been no response to our application. We are expecting a positive response. What is important is not who goes, but what is being thought.
