CHP Leader Özgür Özel calls for application to the Constitutional Court
In a statement made on social media, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced that they would apply to the Constitutional Court against the law passed by Parliament and called on mayors not to implement the provisions of the law.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced in a statement on his social media account that the law had passed through Parliament despite all objections and struggles. Özel stated that his party's legal experts and the CHP group were putting the finishing touches on a comprehensive 180-page petition of objection.
CHP TO FILE THE APPLICATION THIS WEEK
Özel included the following statements in his announcement:
"We will file our application, which also includes our request for a stay of execution, to the Constitutional Court this week. I believe that the Constitutional Court will quickly issue a cancellation decision. Until that date, I invite mayors from all political parties not to implement the provisions of this law regarding the massacre. Otherwise, legal responsibility will arise just as much as moral responsibility."
The CHP leader emphasized that the application would be made as soon as possible and that a swift decision was expected from the Constitutional Court.
