Holiday traffic from CHP leader Özgür Özel: He didn't call only him!

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel held phone calls with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş and 15 political party leaders for the Ramadan holiday. With these holiday greetings, Özel took a step that continues his intense relations in politics. However, a notable detail was that President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was excluded from this holiday traffic.

HE ALSO CALLED BAHÇELİ, BUT DID NOT CALL ERDOĞAN

Among the names Özel spoke with by phone for the holiday were important political figures such as Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, IYI Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu, and DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan. He also exchanged holiday greetings with Felicity Party (Saadet) Chairman Mahmut Arıkan, Future Party (Gelecek) Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu, Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) Chairman Erkan Baş, and New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah) Chairman Fatih Erbakan.

PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN IS NOT ON THE LIST

Although CHP leader Özgür Özel's holiday traffic was quite extensive, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan remained outside these discussions. Last year, Özel had announced that they would not exchange holiday greetings with the AKP, and in line with this statement, he decided not to call Erdoğan.

AKP DID NOT EXCHANGE GREETINGS, BUT CHP AND MHP DID THIS YEAR

Özel's decision not to exchange holiday greetings with the AKP was a decision he made following the operations described as the "March 19 coup" last year. This tension in the relations between the CHP and the AKP also manifested itself in the holiday greeting program. Last year, the CHP and MHP did not exchange greetings either; however, this year both parties decided to exchange greetings, achieving an improvement in the dialogue between them.

Other names included in the holiday traffic were Democrat Party Chairman Gültekin Uysal, DSP Chairman Önder Aksakal, Labor Party (EMEP) Chairman Seyit Aslan, Left Party (SOL) Chairman Önder İşleyen, Victory Party (Zafer) Chairman Ümit Özdağ, BBP Chairman Mustafa Destici, and Independent Turkey Party (BTP) Chairman Hüseyin Baş.
