CHP leader Özgür Özel to Bahçeli: 'I am very saddened'

Highlights from Özel's statements are as follows:

MÜSLÜM DOĞAN RECEIVED A CHP BADGE

"We did not form an alliance with a party in the March 31 elections, but we said we are part of the biggest alliance of this election, which is called the Turkey Alliance, and we invited everyone and will continue to invite them. Today, the Turkey Alliance is expanding a bit more. Müslüm Doğan is returning to his father's home today. While joining the Turkey Alliance, we would like to remind you of this. We described this alliance as follows; we said everyone who rejoices when the national team scores a goal is in the Turkey Alliance. We were saddened together in the recent Portugal match. Tomorrow, we will all win the Czechia match together and share in that enthusiasm together."

FIRES IN DIYARBAKIR AND MARDIN

It has emerged that the statement made by the Minister of Interior on the first day did not reflect the truth and that the issue did not stem from a stubble fire. Reports written by numerous independent organizations describe the incredible negligence of DEDAŞ. The 15-point report shows that everything necessary for a fire to start and for the surrounding grass to burn was done, that even the smallest precautions were not taken, that the surrounding vegetation was not pruned, and that DEDAŞ invited this fire. DEDAŞ is probably the institution that this region complains about the most. There are countless complaints, ranging from high bills issued without reading meters to the seizure of transformers belonging to farmers and power outages, to the failure to renew the electrical infrastructure. It is most prevalent in Şanlıurfa. No one does to Şanlıurfa what DEDAŞ does. It leaves Şanlıurfa without electricity and therefore without water in this scorching heat. It threatens the right to health. It puts the lives of patients connected to respiratory devices and dialysis patients at risk."

INCREASE IN HOUSE RENTS

Sharing EUROSAT's data on house rents, Özgür Özel said, "Turkey became the European leader in housing rents last year with 125 percent. The pandemic happened everywhere, the global crisis is everywhere, the rise in inflation is everywhere. Everyone took precautions, only ours did not. In Hungary, which you do not like, it is 12 percent... Have you seen how this country is being managed?" he said.

KARATEPE-ŞİMŞEK MEETING

Touching upon the meeting between CHP Deputy Chairman Yalçın Karatepe and Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Özel said, "Mr. Yalçın Karatepe, our prospective Minister of Economy, met with Mr. Mehmet Şimşek, the architect of these supposedly rational policies. Politics is a matter of both negotiation and struggle," he said.

Özel said the following:

"We said a 10 thousand lira pension is not possible, make it at least the minimum wage. We said when we come to power, we will make it 1.5 times the minimum wage.

The minimum wage is 17 thousand 2 lira. According to Türk-İş's calculation, the minimum wage is 2 thousand lira below the hunger threshold. They say we gave a raise to the minimum wage, we won't do it again. We doubt they will dare to be so heartless as to not give a raise to the minimum wage. We will not allow you to drag these people into hunger and misery without making the pension equal to the minimum wage and without giving inflation and welfare adjustments to the minimum wage."

Özgür Özel called for participation in the "We Cannot Make Ends Meet" rally in Gebze on June 30.

'BAHÇELİ HAS FALLEN ILL...'

Answering questions from members of the press after his speech, Özel said, "Mr. Devlet Bahçeli has fallen ill, I am very saddened. That is why I skipped the speech regarding the MHP. I wish him a speedy recovery," he said.
