CHP MP alleges parallel structure within Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality during AKP era: Calls on prosecutors to act
CHP MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz has presented documents regarding a parallel structure established within the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality during the AKP era and has called on the prosecutor's office to take action.
CHP Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz has shared official documents regarding the existence of a parallel structure called the "New Presidency" that was established within the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) during the AKP era.
Yavuzyılmaz alleged that this structure interfered in the 2019 local elections by using public resources in favor of the AKP candidate.
Addressing the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Yavuzyılmaz stated that this parallel structure must be investigated. Among the notable points in Yavuzyılmaz's statements were the inclusion of documents proving the existence of the "New Presidency" structure and the claim that this structure used public resources for the AKP candidate's campaign during the election process.
Following these allegations, Yavuzyılmaz questioned what President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the then-Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya, the then-IMM Mayor Mevlüt Uysal, and the AKP's IMM candidate Binali Yıldırım thought about this matter. Despite the existence of the documents, it remains a matter of curiosity whether the authorities will ignore this situation.
Yavuzyılmaz emphasized that this structure was illegal and caused public loss, stating that those responsible must be held accountable before the law.
