CHP's Murat Emir: 'They haven't faced a judge even for a single day'
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir stated in a post on his social media account that figures close to the AKP have not been tried despite serious criminal allegations, adding, "They will be held accountable before the law."
CHP Group Deputy Chairman and Ankara MP Murat Emir expressed strong reaction in a statement on his social media account, noting that serious crimes involving certain figures close to the government have been covered up, while opposition figures against whom no criminal charges could even be brought have been sent to prison.
In his statement, Emir pointed out that figures such as former AKP MP Zehra Taşkesenlioğlu, who has 213 separate criminal complaints against her and whose bribery file was closed; Burak Erdoğan, who caused the death of TRT artist Sevim Tanürek with a vehicle he was driving at the time; former Minister Zafer Çağlayan, who made headlines with a 463 thousand Euro watch during corruption operations; Presidential Foreign Policy Advisor Yasin Serim, who is mentioned in allegations of money laundering based in Cyprus; Zehra Kınık, who was involved in a fatal accident; and former Environment Minister Murat Kurum, who is cited as one of the primary figures responsible for the İliç mining disaster, have not even been brought before the judiciary.
Emir reminded that all of these names have come to the fore with serious allegations in the public eye but have not accounted for them before the justice system for even a single day.
''INNOCENT YOUNG PEOPLE ARE BEING ARRESTED, THE RESPONSIBLE ARE PROTECTED''
Continuing his statement, the CHP's Emir drew attention to students and political figures who have been detained or are currently imprisoned for being in opposition to the AKP. Emir reacted to the double standard, saying, "Our colleagues and students, against whom they still cannot even level criminal charges, are either imprisoned or being prepared for imprisonment with empty files."
''THEY WILL NEED THE LAW VERY MUCH''
Giving a warning message to the government at the end of his statement, Murat Emir said, "The AKP government will soon need the LAW, which they currently see themselves as being above, very much!"
