CHP Party Assembly convenes: Agenda includes primary election preparations
Preparations for an early election continue in the CHP. The CHP Party Assembly met under the leadership of Chairman Özgür Özel to discuss early election preparations.
Active days are being experienced in the Republican People's Party (CHP). While Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş announced that he would not be a candidate in the primary election, an investigation had been launched regarding the party congress where Özgür Özel was elected chairman.
Following these developments, the CHP Party Assembly convened with an early election agenda. The Party Assembly meeting was held behind closed doors at the CHP headquarters at 12:30 PM.
It was learned that during the meeting, Chairman Özgür Özel provided information regarding his discussions with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş.
YAVAŞ WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE PRIMARY
Issues such as the primary election process, schedule, and candidacy criteria were discussed. It had been stated that while Ekrem İmamoğlu responded positively to the call for a primary election, Mansur Yavaş expressed that he would not participate in the primary, stating that the candidate determination process was premature.
During the meeting, which lasted approximately 2.5 hours, a consensus was reached on respecting the decisions to be taken by the party. Sources from the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality had confirmed that Mansur Yavaş would not participate in the primary election to be held within the CHP.
