Hatay Mayor Lütfü Savaş, who was re-nominated by the CHP for the 2024 local elections, faced intense reactions from citizens yesterday on the anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes.
Following the reactions, Savaş announced that he would hold a press conference today at 15:00.
"OTHER CANDIDATES MAY BE CONSIDERED"
CHP PM member Ali Haydar Fırat said the following on the Para Politika program on Sözcü TV:
"We have argued that politics against the will of the people is not possible.
He was the candidate who received the most support among our current candidates.
Ultimately, we observed a very vivid reaction.
We will discuss it once more in the Party Assembly. Other candidates may be considered.
The re-nomination process can be re-discussed; it will be re-evaluated within that framework at the Party Assembly meeting to be held on Friday or Saturday."
