CHP presidential candidacy applications begin tomorrow

The Republican People's Party (CHP) has begun work to determine its presidential candidate for the first upcoming general election. In this direction, the presidential candidate will be determined in a primary election to be held on March 23.

According to the primary election calendar announced by the CHP Deputy Chairmanship for Legal and Election Affairs, applications for presidential hopefuls wishing to participate in the primary begin tomorrow.

APPLICATIONS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL FEBRUARY 21

The candidate, who will be determined by the votes of CHP members, must meet the candidacy requirements in the Election Law to apply. Accordingly, those who have completed the age of 40, have completed higher education, and possess the eligibility to be elected under the Parliamentary Election Law will be able to apply starting tomorrow with the signatures of at least 20 members of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Group. A member of parliament may sign for more than one candidate. Prospective candidates will be able to submit their applications at the CHP Headquarters until Friday, February 21.

ELECTION BOARDS TO BE DETERMINED

According to the schedule, the election boards that will serve in the primary will also be formed tomorrow. Accordingly, first, the central election board presidency, which will consist of five people, will be determined by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. The board will be chaired by Deputy Chairman for Election and Legal Affairs Gül Çiftci and will consist of two TBMM members and two Party Assembly (PM) members.

In the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting to be held tomorrow, provincial board chairs will be determined. The central board will then begin work to determine the five-member provincial board members. District presidencies will also begin work to determine district boards, which will also consist of five people.
