Primary election summit in CHP concludes: First post from Özgür Özel!
While the CHP's decision to determine its presidential candidate early has sparked internal party debates, all eyes have turned to the Party Assembly meeting on February 10. Following the CHP's decision to determine its presidential candidate through a primary election, debates continue within the party. The critical February 10 Party Assembly (PM) meeting is expected to address and vote on the primary election directive.
SUMMIT CONCLUDES
Prior to the meeting, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's meeting with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu concluded. It is alleged that comprehensive evaluations regarding the candidate determination method and schedule were made during this summit.
Details of the meeting between CHP leader Özgür Özel, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş have not yet been shared.

''IF WE TAKE A STEP BACK FROM THAT PHOTO, TURKEY WILL KNEEL''
In a statement made before the meeting, Özgür Özel drew attention to the importance of the process and said the following:
“Ekrem Bey will also come to Ankara tomorrow (Sunday). I have already met with Mayor Mansur. We will hold a tripartite meeting to evaluate the current situation and the process we are conducting. The unity photo of Mayor Mansur and Mayor Ekrem that gives hope to Turkey will not change. If we take a step back from that photo, they will make Turkey kneel. We are aware of this.”
ROADMAP TO BE DETERMINED AT THE PM
On the other hand, the agenda of the PM, which will start at 12:00 tomorrow at the party headquarters, will be early election strategies. The primary election roadmap will be determined at the PM.
According to the directive work carried out by Gül Çiftçi, the Central Executive Board (MYK) member responsible for Election and Legal Affairs, approximately 1 million 600 thousand members will cast their votes at ballot boxes to be set up in district centers instead of a digital environment. There will also be a requirement to collect a certain percentage of signatures to become a candidate. Sealed ballots and envelopes will be used, as in elections held under the supervision of the Supreme Election Council. While the process is expected to be completed within a 30-35 day calendar, all these details will be discussed and the directive will be submitted to a vote at the PM.
