CHP provides documented response to claims of Akın Gürlek owning a yacht in Luxembourg

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel continues to shake the agenda of Turkish politics with the documents he has brought forward regarding Justice Minister Akın Gürlek. Özel raised allegations that Gürlek owns a yacht in Luxembourg, supporting these claims with documents and title deed records. Gürlek, however, denied the allegations, stating, "I have never been to Luxembourg in my life."

DOCUMENTED RESPONSE FROM THE CHP

Following CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's disclosure of title deed records worth 400 million liras belonging to Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, Gürlek denied these claims. While Özel stated that Gürlek owned a yacht in Luxembourg, Gürlek had responded to these statements by saying, "I have never been to Luxembourg in my life; I don't even know how to swim."

The CHP shared with the public a document proving that Gürlek served as a company executive in Luxembourg. In response to Gürlek's statement, "I have never been to Luxembourg," the CHP Communications office presented a document regarding his "Board Membership at the Eti Maden Company in Luxembourg." This documented disclosure by the CHP was considered a significant step toward refuting Gürlek's denial of the allegations.

HE WAS APPOINTED TO COMPANY MANAGEMENT IN LUXEMBOURG

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek had previously come to the agenda with allegations that he served on the board of a company in Luxembourg during his time as a chief public prosecutor. Gürlek denied claims that he received a salary from the company management and made a statement regarding his resignation from the post. In his statement, Gürlek said, "I am a judge and prosecutor by profession. When I became deputy minister, I ceased to hold the status of a judge and prosecutor. The HSK (Council of Judges and Prosecutors) convened on this matter, and I was removed from the profession. I left this company after being appointed as the Chief Public Prosecutor of Istanbul."

Gürlek admitted that he left his position at the company in Luxembourg but did not provide definitive information regarding whether he received a salary for this role. Gürlek closed the matter by saying, "Do I have any signature in this company after that date? No, I have not received any. I have filed lawsuits against those who slandered me."
