CHP's Şavşat Mayor Nihat Acar resigns from his party

Republican People's Party (CHP) Şavşat Mayor Nihat Acar announced his resignation from his party in a statement shared on his social media account.

In his statement on social media, where he claimed to have been betrayed by his party, Acar said, "I have been subjected to a political lynching by both the current CHP district organization and the previous district organization. The previous district organization not only left me alone but also repeatedly complained about me to the headquarters, forcing me to resign."

'UNFORTUNATELY, I WAS BETRAYED BY MY OWN PARTY'

Acar's statement is as follows:

"Dear residents of Şavşat, dear members of the press, while I was carrying out all these works, unfortunately, I was betrayed by my own party. I have been subjected to a political lynching by both the current CHP district organization and the previous district organization. The previous district organization not only left me alone but also repeatedly complained about me to the headquarters, forcing me to resign. They placed various political and social pressures on me. Despite all kinds of difficulties, I endured them all because of my love for our people and our Şavşat, and my passion for service.

However, after so many difficult and lasting services, thinking that remaining silent in the face of the political lynching directed at me would be a betrayal to myself, my family, and you, the valuable people of Şavşat who love me and stand by me, I would like to share with you that I have resigned from the Republican People's Party, which I have been a part of and served for so many years. I would like to thank my friends who stood by me during this difficult process, my colleagues at the municipality, and all my staff. I wish everyone happy and peaceful days and offer my respects."
