CHP's Taşcıer criticizes TUIK: 'The palace regime is governing with imaginary inflation'

CHP Deputy Chair Gamze Taşcıer reacted sharply to the inflation data announced by TUIK. Emphasizing that the price hikes in red meat exceed the annual food inflation of 145 countries, Taşcıer said, "The government is stealing from the citizens' pockets while keeping wages stagnant."

CHP's Taşcıer criticizes TUIK: 'The palace regime is governing with imaginary inflation'

CHP Deputy Chair and Coordinator of Labor Bureaus Gamze Taşcıer reacted to the inflation data announced by TUIK.

Stating that "The palace regime is not fighting inflation, it is governing the country with imaginary inflation," Taşcıer said that the government is trying to hide the economic collapse experienced by citizens by dressing up TUIK data.

CHP Deputy Chair Gamze Taşcıer stated the following:

RED MEAT PRICE HIKE IS HIGHER THAN THE ANNUAL FOOD INFLATION OF 145 COUNTRIES!

"There is no need to look far to understand the dire picture the economic management has reached in Turkey. According to data from the National Red Meat Council, the price of a kilogram of red meat, which was 374 TL in January, rose to 412 TL in February. In other words, there was a 10.2% price hike in just one month! This increase is higher than the annual food inflation of 145 countries worldwide! In Turkey, red meat prices exceeded the inflation that many countries experience in a year within just one month. Citizens are now forced to view red meat, which they once kept on their tables, as a luxury.

So, are wages increasing at this speed? No! While the income of retirees, minimum wage earners, and civil servants remains stagnant, the fire in the kitchen is growing, and purchasing power is declining every day."

TUIK IS STEALING FROM THE RETIREE'S POCKET

"The retiree pension, which was 14,469 TL in January, fell to a purchasing power of 13,470 TL when considering the two-month official inflation difference. In other words, 1,000 TL has evaporated from the retiree's pocket in just the first two months of the year! However, this is only the loss on paper. To see the real loss, one needs to look at the kitchen! For example, a retiree who could buy 38.7 kg of meat in January can only buy 32.7 kg of meat in February with their real purchasing power. That is, a loss of approximately 6 kg of meat in just two months. But according to TUIK, inflation is under control!"

THE GOVERNMENT HAS SQUEEZED WAGE EARNERS LIKE A LEMON

"The wrong policies implemented by the government have squeezed minimum wage earners, retirees, and millions of fixed-income individuals like a lemon, draining them dry. Not only wages, but every product on the public's table has melted away with inflation. One of the most striking examples of this is lemon prices! In the last year, the price of a kilogram of lemons has increased by 594%. Lemons, which were 2 lira and 16 kuruş last year, have risen to 15 TL today. The government, which has its eyes on the few pennies in the public's pocket, continues to conduct perception operations by saying, 'We are lowering inflation.' The truth is this: Prices in Turkey are not stopping, and the citizens' purchasing power is rapidly melting away! This is exactly what imaginary inflation is: It is the government continuing to write success stories while the citizens' bread shrinks!"
