CHP to announce new governance program: Action plan ready for 90 pledges and 18 ministries

The CHP is preparing to take office with a comprehensive action plan prepared by its 138-member Presidential Candidate Office team, covering 18 ministries.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet, the party leadership will detail its proposed solutions for economic and social issues at an event to be held under the slogan "Together with the Nation, at the Service of the Nation."

Bülent Tezcan, coordinator of the CHP Candidate Office, stated in his announcement that the launch meeting is significant for presenting both the potential government team and the priority plans to the public, adding:

“We have a team of approximately 138 people. Our policy board chairs have identified five key priorities in every field, and we will present this entire structure to the public. Our Chairman will also share a portion of these pledges.”

Following the launch event, the CHP Party Assembly will convene to plan the nationwide communication and field work for these 90 pledges. Through public meetings in various cities and visits organized by policy board chairs and local branches, these priority pledges will be conveyed to citizens.

Tezcan emphasized that the proposed solutions focus on topics such as unemployment, poverty, education, health, and the business world. In his statement, he also included the following remarks: “We will spread our policy topics across all 81 provinces. We will meet with non-governmental organizations, professional chambers, and citizens. Our goal is to share the roadmap we have created for Turkey as widely as possible.”

The party also evaluated the potential overlap between the launch process and the hearings of detained presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, which are expected to begin on March 9. Emphasizing that the two processes will be conducted separately, Tezcan said, “Our deputies will regularly follow the hearing on March 9, and we will be present in Silivri to show our support; the two agendas will not affect each other.”

Some of the notable pledges previously announced by the CHP's policy boards, which Özel is also expected to bring to the agenda, are as follows:

• In the field of education, plans include addressing the teacher shortage, hiring security and cleaning staff, and abolishing the interview system for teacher appointments. The provision of free clean water, currently implemented by municipalities, will become part of national policy.

• Specifically for youth, a Rental Support Fund will be established to assist low-income students, and a Youth Tenant Law will be drafted to protect individuals under the age of 25.

• Regarding retirees, the party aims to raise the lowest pension to the level of the minimum wage within the first year of its administration. Additionally, a Basic Citizenship Income will be provided to citizens struggling with the cost of living.

• In agricultural policy, a "Guaranteed Purchase Model" will be introduced for farmers, ensuring the price and buyers of products before planting.

• While a public-based structure is envisioned for the health system, a new regulation will be implemented with Public Health Centers at the core. Plans include having family physicians serve in public buildings, employing 150 thousand healthcare workers, and providing periodic home health check-ups for citizens over the age of 65.

• In the field of justice, changes are targeted for the structure of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors. In a system where the Minister of Justice and executive representatives will no longer be members of the council, it is envisioned that members will be elected by high judicial bodies and all processes will be conducted with transparent criteria. Furthermore, the number of members in high courts, which face increased workloads due to file density, will be increased.
