Claim stirring up CHP corridors: '86 deputies will join our party'

While discussions continue following the absolute nullity ruling within the CHP, a new claim has been brought to the political agenda. Anadolu Union Party Chairman Bedri Yalçın claimed that they have been holding meetings with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and his team, asserting that a large number of deputies and provincial chairs will join their party.

"NEGOTIATIONS ARE ONGOING" CLAIM

Speaking after the absolute nullity ruling issued by the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber, while management debates within the CHP continue, Bedri Yalçın claimed that they are in contact with Özgür Özel and his team.

Yalçın used the following expressions in his statement:

"Yes, negotiations are being held; we have our team and they have theirs. We have no problems. We are a party that has established its organization in 81 provinces and has entered elections. In other words, we are a party without any dubious reputation."

"86 DEPUTIES AND NEARLY 74 PROVINCIAL CHAIRS WILL JOIN" CLAIM

Denying allegations that there is bargaining over parliamentary seats, Yalçın made the following statement:

"Would there ever be bargaining for the homeland? There is a matter of the homeland in the country right now. Negotiations are ongoing. We already have no shortcomings. They investigated us, and we investigated them. 86 deputies from among them will join us. After that, there are nearly 74 provincial chairs. They are already joining our party."

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to office following the absolute nullity ruling by the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber, stated in his speech at the holiday celebration program held at the CHP Headquarters on May 30, 2026: "They ask me, 'What will you do?' I will hold them accountable. Let everyone know this. Then I will bring the convention ballot box before you as soon as possible. We will hold a clean convention."

In the same speech, Kılıçdaroğlu made the following remarks:

"I apologize to you and before history for not being able to root out the mayors who set their eyes on the rights of orphans and resorted to bribery and plunder in the people's municipality from this party."

"We will be purified of bribes and thieves. Does turning a blind eye to bribery in the Uşak Municipality and handing over the rights of orphans appear in the book of the father's hearth? I ask you. Can there be illicit money in market bags at the father's hearth?"

Following these statements, 9 deputies, including group deputy chairmen, 2 mayors, and numerous provincial chairs were referred to the disciplinary board with a request for expulsion.

DEMAND FOR EXTRAORDINARY CONVENTION CONTINUES

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and his team continue their calls for an extraordinary convention to be convened as soon as possible.

According to the CHP Charter, an extraordinary convention can be convened by the call of the chairman, a simple majority decision of the Party Assembly, or the signatures of one-fifth of the delegates.

In this context, 830 notarized signatures collected by the delegates were delivered to the CHP Headquarters.

According to the information in the report, it was stated that if Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to office with the absolute nullity ruling, does not initiate the process, an application will be made to the civil court of peace.
