Claims of change in the AKP: A process of radical renewal begins

Demands for internal change within the AKP are gaining strength following the defeat in the March 31 local elections. In party circles, it is stated that a comprehensive renewal is on the agenda, not only in the administration but also in the cabinet and parliamentary group management.

The 8th Ordinary Grand Congress process, which was initiated last September, will evolve into provincial congresses once the district congresses are completed. The party's grand congress is planned to be held in May. However, a deeper expectation of change has emerged within the party following the election results.

It is stated that President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has held hundreds of meetings with party officials and deputies during this process and has been working on various reports. In party circles, it is being discussed that Erdoğan is preparing not just for a change of names, but for a radical paradigm shift in the party's management approach.

A NEW ERA WILL BEGIN

According to information obtained by Gazete Duvar, an AKP official pointed to the depth of the change process with the words, "This process aims to initiate a new era not only in the change of individuals but also in the management style and approach."

PRESIDENTIAL POLICY BOARDS MAY ALSO BE RENEWED

It has been stated that the winds of change are likely to be reflected in the Presidential Policy Boards as well. In party circles, it is suggested that there may be changes in the functioning of the presidential system and that the individuals serving on the policy boards may be renewed.
