Claims of 'nullity' back on the agenda in CHP: What does the party leadership think?

In the shadow of operations targeting CHP-run municipalities, the "absolute nullity" lawsuit regarding the cancellation of the party's latest convention has brought a new debate to the party. The fact that the case is in the appellate process is fueling rumors that the former administration could return to the party. However, the current CHP leadership states that these claims have no legal basis.

According to reports from Cumhuriyet, party sources emphasizing that the claims regarding the convention are only being kept on the agenda by certain circles within the party stated, "Those who have an interest are talking about this. Those who cannot find support within the party and are waiting for a court decision, those who gain ratings this way, and those who want an opposition tailored to their own interests are constantly debating this."

"IT HAS NO LEGAL BASIS"

High-level officials in the CHP, arguing that there has been no legal justification from the beginning of the process, expressed the following: "In an environment where lawlessness in the country has become normalized, the claim of nullity fell off the agenda with the decision rendered by the court. There is no connection whatsoever between the criminal case and the nullity debate anyway."

According to the authorities, the issue of nullity can only enter the agenda of those who have political or personal interests in this process. It is stated that some groups who want an effective opposition within the party are also trying to keep the issue alive.

"IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR THE CHP TO BE TAKEN OVER"

Stating that even in the most negative and legally problematic scenario, the CHP would not be left to an unelected administration, party staff spoke as follows: "The party has determined its administration through conventions many times to date; it has never surrendered to external interference. The CHP is not an institution that can be taken over. Our Chairman also showed a clear stance on this issue when he brought up the matter of by-elections. The rhetoric being discussed, such as 'the previous administration returning to office and a new convention not being held,' does not align with reality. CHP members would not allow this to happen."

MAYORS MEET IN AFYON

On the other hand, CHP mayors will come together in Afyonkarahisar today for a three-day camp. On the second day of the camp, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel will deliver an important opening speech. At this meeting, the current situation of the municipalities and the ongoing operations against them will be discussed. Following the meeting, Özel will head to Kütahya for the 102nd of the "The Nation Protects Its Will" rallies.

During the three-day camp, it is expected that the party's work in local governments will be evaluated and the legal developments experienced will be laid out on the table.
