Clear date for a new party from Özgür Özel: The calendar is becoming clear

Turkey's political agenda has shifted to a new axis of debate following statements made by Özgür Özel during a television broadcast. Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özel made notable assessments regarding developments within the party and the opposition bloc, providing a clear date for the first time regarding the initiative for a new party.

THE CALENDAR FOR A NEW PARTY IS BECOMING CLEAR

Speaking to Sözcü, Özgür Özel emphasized in his live broadcast statement that steps would be taken to realize the formation of a new political party by the end of July or the beginning of August. This statement has caused excitement in political circles.

CRITICISM OF KILIÇDAROĞLU: "I WAS VERY ASHAMED, IT BURNED ME INSIDE"

Reacting to the silence of former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu following the arrest of Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Güner, Özel stated, "I was very ashamed of Kılıçdaroğlu; it burned me inside." Özel was referring to Kılıçdaroğlu's explanation regarding the matter, in which he said, "I have doubts, that is why I remained silent."

During the program, Özel criticized the country's current ruling party, drawing attention to interventions in election processes and the arrest of successful CHP mayors. "When I look at the ruling party that was subjected to a coup today, I do not see a structure that respects election results; there is a party that puts CHP's elected mayors in prison," said Özel, adding, "If calling people to the streets during a coup period is important, then taking to the streets is also legitimate if the ballot box is eliminated."

ARE REACTIONS GROWING WITHIN THE AK PARTY?

Suggesting that there is great discomfort within the ranks of the AK Party regarding recent operations, Özel pointed out that these reactions are spreading to certain groups within the party. "News is coming from everywhere; many people within the AKP are uncomfortable with the operations. They are even contacting us. All of this shows that the operations are not accepted at the grassroots level. There is a very large segment that remains silent, but those who are not uncomfortable should not talk about democracy today," he said.

Addressing Kılıçdaroğlu's past remarks regarding FETÖ accusations within the party, Özel emphasized that he and his team have always stood by the party. He stated that Kılıçdaroğlu took a step back following the reactions of party members who said, "You can call everyone a FETÖ member, but you cannot say that to me and my team; we were always by your side."
