Cold shower for Kılıçdaroğlu in his hometown! 'It is not legitimate for us'

The 'absolute nullity' (annulment) decision issued by the 36th Civil Chamber of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice regarding the Republican People's Party's 38th Ordinary Congress continues to draw reactions from party members and democratic mass organizations. Gathering in front of the CHP Provincial Headquarters in Tunceli, party members and representatives of some parties and unions announced their support for Chairman Özgür Özel in strong terms.

In a statement made by Provincial Chairman Berkay Gündoğan, it was claimed that the court decision was not legal but carried a political purpose, and it was stated that the party's will was being defended.

Gündoğan stated, "This decision, which ignores the elected will with an unlawful nullity ruling issued for political motives and aims to create a Turkey without elections and without opposition, poses a major threat to multi-party democratic life. We do not recognize this unlawful decision. The CHP is not a party to be taken over by personal ambitions or petty political calculations. The CHP is the father's hearth of the nation. The wall of our organization, which works selflessly across the four corners of Anatolia, is completely closed to external interventions and political calculations behind dark corridors. We do not accept any ground other than our intra-party democratic mechanisms and our congress will as legitimate. Our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, has been elected and registered as our chairman 4 times in a row with record votes by the will of our organization and our congress. Other than this, no person or authority is legitimate for us."
