Concerns that Turkish Parliament commission decisions will reach İmralı! A major puzzle in the commission

The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission in Parliament, established within the scope of the PKK's disarmament process, met for the second time. In this critical meeting, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, and MIT President İbrahim Kalın gave presentations to the members.

At the beginning of the meeting, which lasted approximately 5 hours, Numan Kurtulmuş, who chaired the commission, put the proposal for the meetings to be held in secret to a vote. In the vote, the members unanimously decided on confidentiality. According to this decision, meeting information and minutes will remain a "secret" for 10 years and will not be disclosed in any way. This situation means that the public's access to information regarding this important process is completely blocked.

The meeting was completely closed to the press and could only be observed by members of parliament and relevant bureaucrats. Citizens will not be able to access any information regarding potential steps that would end the pain that PKK terrorism has caused the country for 50 years. It will not be possible for the public to learn about developments regarding this process for 10 years.

THE POSSIBILITY OF İMRALI AND KANDIL OBTAINING INFORMATION

Another noteworthy issue was the situation of the DEM (Democratic Labor and Struggle Party) deputies who attended the meeting. The DEM Party is represented in the commission by 4 deputies: Gülistan Koçyiğit (Kars), Meral Danış Beştaş (Erzurum), Hakkı Saruhan Oluç (Antalya), and Cengiz Çiçek (Istanbul). These four deputies gained access to the secret information throughout the meeting. This situation has brought some concerns with it: According to a report by Sözcü, it is claimed that there is a possibility that İmralı and Kandil could access this secret information through the DEM deputies.
