Conflict grows in AKP: Harsh response from Babuşçu to Uçum

Upon the objection of the DEM Party, the Supreme Election Council (YSK) overturned the decision of the Van Provincial Election Board and ruled that the certificate of election for the Van Metropolitan Municipality, which had been given to the AKP candidate, should be granted to the DEM Party's candidate, Abdullah Zeydan.

While the protests that took place in Van over two days increased tension in the region, AKP Deputy Chairman Hayati Yazıcı stated in a post: "The YSK has ended the state of insanity that emerged on April 1 regarding the mayoral election in our province of Van with its accurate decision. I sincerely congratulate the High Council and its esteemed members." Yazıcı later deleted his post.

A statement on the matter also came from Mehmet Uçum, Chief Advisor to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Legal Policies Board. In his post, Uçum targeted the DEM Party and the opposition that supported Abdullah Zeydan.

"THE STATE READ IT VERY WELL"

Uçum's post on his social media account is as follows:

"Everyone is evaluating the Van process from their own front, which is understandable. However, the aspirations of the Westernist and neo-liberal domestic circles will be thwarted. Turkish society has set a direction for the government in the local elections, and the State has read this very well.

The National State will put those who interpret these election results as creating conditions for handing Turkey over to the dominant powers of the West in their place.

The Van process was experienced entirely as a legal process. But the State and Society are both aware of those who try to legitimize the terrorist organization and its legal-looking extensions, which exploited this legal process with calls for 'uprising' before it was even completed.

Everyone should also realize that the stances taken by all actors of the opposition, and more strikingly, by those who are accepted as being within the government and who have surrendered their mental worlds to Westernism with neo-liberal poison, regarding the Van events, have been recorded."

"YOU ARE OVERSTEPPING YOUR BOUNDS"

A response to Uçum's harsh words came from AKP Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) Member Aziz Babuşçu. Criticizing Uçum without naming him, Babuşçu wrote:

"The State is aware! The State has read it! It has been noted! It has been recorded! The State will put you in your place! This mentality does not suit us, it cannot represent us. You cannot wag your finger at the nation from the Nation's House! To use your own tone, you are overstepping your bounds."
