Congratulatory message from Dilek İmamoğlu to Özgür Özel

The Republican People's Party (CHP) held its 21st Extraordinary Congress in Ankara today, in line with a decision taken to "prevent the appointment of a trustee to the party." Following the congress, a notable message of support came from Dilek İmamoğlu, wife of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, during his ongoing imprisonment.

In a post on her social media account, Dilek İmamoğlu congratulated CHP Chairman Özgür Özel on his re-election. Emphasizing unity and struggle in her message, İmamoğlu stated, "I congratulate Mr. Özgür Özel, who was re-elected as Chairman at the 21st Extraordinary Congress of the CHP. Together, we will fight for a democratic, fair, and free country; we will work with faith and hope for the future of our children and youth."

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL WAS THE SOLE CANDIDATE

Following the withdrawal of former MP Berhan Şimşek, who could not submit his candidacy application for the chairmanship on time, and Antalya Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal, who withdrew from the race, Özgür Özel participated in the elections as the sole candidate.

According to unofficial results, 1,276 out of 1,323 delegates cast their votes. There were 1,171 valid votes, while 105 votes were deemed invalid. Özel was re-elected as CHP Chairman by receiving all of the valid votes cast.
