Constitutional amendment warning from Tanju Özcan! 'A very dangerous game is being played'
Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan has criticized the efforts of certain political parties to reach the number of deputies required for a constitutional amendment.
CHP member Tanju Özcan stated in a post on the social media platform X that the AKP, MHP, DEM, and certain other political groups are attempting to amend the constitution without obtaining the public's approval.
Özcan expressed that the support of 400 deputies required for a constitutional amendment would allow for changes to be made without the need for a referendum, posing a serious risk to democratic processes. Özcan stated, "A very dangerous game is being played!" drawing attention to the dangers of this initiative.

Özcan also, with the words "My concern is that they might reach this number!" expressed his anxiety regarding the possibility of reaching this goal. Noting that some deputies who entered the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) on their lists might also be involved in this process, Özcan emphasized that the CHP leadership and other opposition parties must act in unison on this matter.
