Constitutional Court move from Özgür Özel!

In the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), under the chairmanship of MHP Deputy Speaker Celal Adan, the legislative proposal to increase the lowest pension to 20,000 lira was accepted. The AKP's proposal passed with the votes of the MHP.

Despite the criticisms of Devlet Bahçeli, who described the regulation as a "poverty wage," CHP deputies hung placards on the benches and walls.

"CONSTITUTIONAL COURT" MOVE FROM ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated in his remarks following the vote in Parliament that their struggle for retirees would no longer be confined to the Assembly. Declaring, "From now on, this struggle is no longer in the Parliament," Özel announced their next step.

REGULATION CONTRARY TO THE CONSTITUTION

Özgür Özel pointed out that the regulation setting the lowest pension at 20,000 lira violates almost every article of the Constitution. He said, "This heartlessness will definitely be taken to the Constitutional Court," and added:

"This decision is contrary to many articles of the Constitution, from the right to a humane life to the principle of equality, justice, the rule of law, and the right to health. We will take this to the Constitutional Court."

THE STRUGGLE MOVES TO THE STREETS

Following the process in Parliament, Özel stated that the struggle would continue in the streets, in the squares, and in every area where retirees live. "Our parliamentary group will continue to carry on this struggle for retirees and workers in the squares and on the streets," he added.
