Constitutional tour continues: First statement from Numan Kurtulmuş after visiting DEM Party!

Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş's talks on a new constitution are ongoing.

Kurtulmuş, who visited the CHP the day before, made the DEM Party his first stop today. The meeting lasted 40 minutes.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM KURTULMUŞ AFTER THE MEETING

Following the meeting, Kurtulmuş and DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları made statements to the press.

Kurtulmuş stated the following:

"We conveyed our request to conduct this in a democratic manner. After the Co-Chairs and group deputy chairs deliberate with their colleagues, they will share their views with the public as a party. Our wish is for a constitutional study to be presented that political parties in the TBMM can agree upon, and for this to be adopted in Parliament."

"NEED FOR A DEMOCRATIC CONSTITUTION-MAKING PROCESS"

DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları's statement is as follows:

"We, as the DEM Party, are also of the opinion that there is a need for a democratic constitution-making process. Our views on changing the September 12 constitution and building a democratic Turkey are well known. The removal of the current atmosphere of pressure and the implementation of constitutional provisions and ECHR rulings are very important to us. We underlined the points we see as negative and the fact that there could be difficulties in the constitution-making process on such a foundation."

Kurtulmuş will hold his second meeting with the Felicity Party at 13:00.

Finally, Kurtulmuş will visit the IYI Party at 14:00.
