Controversial appointment in CHP withdrawn: Removed from the MYK list

The new list determined for the CHP Ankara Provincial Administration was announced in recent days with the approval of the party's authorized MYK. However, posts made by Gizem Altunsoy, who was on the list, via a social media account she used in the past, were met with backlash from opposition party members and the public.

SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS SPARKED DEBATE

It was alleged that Altunsoy, known by the pseudonym "Gizem Lara" on the X platform, played a role in circulating false claims about CHP politicians in some of her posts. In particular, the mention of Altunsoy's name in the spread of slanders on social media regarding Şehzadeler Mayor Gülşah Durbay, who passed away due to cancer, and Özgür Özel, caused discomfort within the party.

CHANGE IN CHP

The name of Altunsoy, who was on the 35-person Ankara Provincial Administration list approved by the CHP MYK on June 30, was re-evaluated by the CHP Chairmanship following intense backlash. Upon the instruction of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, it was decided to cancel Gizem Altunsoy's appointment to the Ankara Provincial Board of Directors and that she would not be given any other role in the party.
