Convention debates continue in CHP: Another reaction emerges

As the convention debates that began after a court returned the chairmanship of the Republican People's Party (CHP) to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu continue, notable statements have come from Deputy Chairperson Gül Çiftçi. Reacting to Kılıçdaroğlu's statement, "We will hold the convention after the injunction is lifted," Çiftçi claimed that this approach aims to make the CHP manageable through court decisions.

Çiftçi stated that the legal processes and decisions taken within the party are placing obstacles in front of the will of the delegates. Criticizing Kılıçdaroğlu without naming him directly, Çiftçi said, "Their goal is to evade the will of the delegates, sideline the elected leadership with a court order, and make the Republican People's Party manageable through the judiciary."

Stating that the dismissal of the party's lawyers also confirms this intention, Çiftçi said, "The entire appeal application has not been abandoned; only the objection we filed against the preliminary injunction that removed the elected leadership from office has been withdrawn."

Arguing that this development is not a coincidence, Çiftçi claimed that these legal steps taken mean "effectively maintaining the injunction," and that during this process, the party's governing bodies are being shaped by court decisions and the convention is being delayed.

"I state with regret that the expression 'If it were in my hands, I would go to the convention tomorrow morning' does not reflect the truth. The Republican People's Party's convention is in a position to be convened through all the methods included in our bylaws. The source of legitimacy in the Republican People's Party is not court decisions. The source of legitimacy is the organization, the delegates, the convention, and the nation's will for change.

No one can manage the Republican People's Party by keeping it waiting in courthouse corridors. No one can sideline our party's elected boards with injunctions and then evade the will of the organization. The owner of the Republican People's Party is its organization. And the will of the organization is an immediate convention."
