Crack in the AKP over Minister Ersoy: 'He is now an unbearable burden for us'
As debates continue over inspection authority in the Grand Hotel fire, AKP member Şamil Tayyar has leveled harsh criticisms at Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. Regarding Minister Ersoy, Tayyar stated, 'He chose to obscure the truth instead of reaching it.'
In the Grand Hotel fire in Bolu, which became a grave for 78 people, the Bolu Special Provincial Administration put an end to the debate over authority by responding to Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and stating that the inspection authority lies with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Following this situation, AKP member Şamil Tayyar made a post on his social media account.
Tayyar wrote the following regarding Minister Ersoy, stating, "He chose to obscure the truth instead of reaching it":
"Tourism Minister Mehmet Ersoy, in a panic during a TV broadcast he attended, tried everything at once; despite the fact that the inspection authority for the tourism-certified facility belongs to his ministry, he blamed almost every relevant public unit other than himself, let alone the Bolu Municipality.
Naturally, a process we are not very accustomed to during the AK Party government has begun.
Bolu Special Provincial Administration Secretary General Sırrı Köstereli, as a bureaucrat under the governor's command, refuted Minister Ersoy.
He stated that the 2015 Special Provincial Administration report was only about an address change and added:
'The inspection authority is with the Ministry of Tourism.'
It is proven by experience that this bureaucrat would not, and cannot, make this statement without the governor's knowledge, and the governor would not do so without the approval of the Minister of Interior.
Another refutation came from the hotel owner, Halit Ergül:
'The Ministry of Tourism inspected the hotel on December 15, 2024; they found deficiencies regarding the doors, but they did not find any deficiencies regarding fire safety measures.'
The Minister of Tourism may not know the actions of every one of his bureaucrats, but if he had looked at himself before pointing fingers at others, I would have believed in his innocence.
Unfortunately, in this tragic incident where we lost 79 of our lives, he chose to obscure the truth instead of reaching it.
To put it briefly, the Minister of Tourism is now an unbearable burden for the AK Party."
