Date set for Ümit Özdağ's court appearance

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ will appear before a judge in Silivri on June 11.

The indictment prepared against Özdağ, which charges him with 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility in a chain manner through the press,' requests a prison sentence ranging from 1 year, 10 months, and 15 days to 7 years, 10 months, and 15 days. Özdağ will present his defense against the accusations in court on June 11.

INDICTMENT HAD BEEN WRITTEN

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared an indictment against Ümit Özdağ, who remained in custody for 78 days, on charges of 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting them' under Article 216/1 of the Turkish Penal Code.

REQUEST FOR UP TO 7 YEARS, 10 MONTHS, AND 15 DAYS IN PRISON

The indictment states that Ümit Özdağ committed the alleged crime through press and broadcasting channels in a chain manner, and requests that he be sentenced to up to 7 years, 10 months, and 15 days in prison.
