Davutoğlu's 'Israel' question to Erdoğan: Why does the shipment continue?
Future Party leader Davutoğlu, regarding Erdoğan's statement that 'we have no debt,' asked, 'If you have no debt to Israel, why does the oil shipment sent from Ceyhan to Israel continue?'
Future Party's Konya Ordinary Congress was attended by Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu, deputy chairmen, and party members.
''WHY DOES THE SHIPMENT CONTINUE?''
Speaking at the congress, Davutoğlu said, “I find it correct and I applaud the President saying, ‘We have no debt to Israel. Therefore, we have no account to give.’ But if someone stands up and asks this same President the following question… ‘If you have no debt to Israel, why does the oil shipment sent from Ceyhan to Israel continue? If you have no debt to Israel, why are ships departing from Mersin and Antalya carrying food and other products to the Port of Haifa?’ Why are we sending cement and iron to Israel? Unfortunately, while applauding that statement, I also ask this question. If the fuel used by Israeli jets is going from us, if the food that feeds Israeli soldiers is going from us, if the cement and iron for the housing built by Israeli settlers is going from us, then shame on you. We know how to applaud, and we also know how to hold people accountable.”
''THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR US''
Davutoğlu said, ''In 1967, 4 Arab states were at war: Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon. Israel occupied the West Bank in 6 days. If those massive armies cannot take a place that is half the size of Yalova in 45 days, then I kiss the eyes of those brave Gazans. They are fighting for us. For 45 days, the world's most technological army has been bombing from above. The American navy has pulled up to the coast and is providing logistical support to Israel from there. The British navy is there. Isn't it exactly like Gallipoli? The seven powers have descended upon a strait. But our ancestors, who possessed heart, did not let them pass. Now, one might engage in politics based on anti-Arab sentiment against the Gazan. I just told the story of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam. He was an Ottoman soldier. And there were many heroes in this entire geography who fought with Ottoman thought and Turkish friendship. Shuja'iyya is one of them. Do you know why it is named Shuja'iyya? Because in 1917, the last Ottoman soldier was martyred there alongside the Gazans. The Gazans called the place where the last Ottomans fought against the British and were martyred 'Shuja'iyya,' meaning the hill of heroes. And now, those who defend the hill of heroes where our ancestors fought are our heroes today.”
Following the speeches, the incumbent chairman Ahmet Arslan was re-elected in the election held with a single list.
