Gendarmerie teams took action in the Silifke district of Mersin as part of an investigation into the CHP-run municipality. Within the framework of the operation carried out in the early hours of the morning, a search was initiated at the municipal building, and simultaneous raids were conducted on numerous addresses.

OPERATION COORDINATED BY THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams carried out an operation targeting Silifke Municipality.

Teams arriving at the municipal building in the morning hours began search operations inside the building. It was stated that the operation is being conducted under the instructions of the prosecutor's office.

SEARCH CONDUCTED AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING

Gendarmerie teams carried out inspection and search activities at the Silifke Municipality service building as part of the operation.

Employees arriving at the municipal building while the searches were ongoing were not allowed to enter. It was learned that personnel who arrived at the municipality due to the start of working hours were kept waiting outside the building.

SIMULTANEOUS RAIDS ON MANY ADDRESSES

It was reported that the operation was not limited to the municipal building and that searches were also conducted at different addresses in the district.

It was stated that gendarmerie teams are continuing their evidence collection efforts at the points determined in line with the investigation.

MAYOR MUSTAFA TURGUT ALSO IN CUSTODY

It was learned that a large number of people, including Silifke Mayor Mustafa Turgut, were taken into custody as part of the operation.
