Decision made to continue Ümit Özdağ's detention

The prosecution has requested a prison sentence for Özdağ ranging from 1 year and 2 months to 4 years and 8 months.
The indictment states that an ex officio investigation was launched into Özdağ due to his remarks regarding President Erdoğan during his party's provincial chairmen consultation meeting on January 19. It is not yet clear when the court will deliver its final verdict on Özdağ.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Özdağ was taken into custody in Ankara as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office due to a speech he made in Antalya. Initially detained on charges of "insulting the president," Özdağ was released from that charge, but was later arrested for "inciting the public to hatred and hostility" after statements regarding Syria and refugees were added to the file.
