Decision on Assembly meeting from Kılıçdaroğlu: A signal of avoiding the convention?
The Party Assembly meeting of the Republican People's Party (CHP), which was planned to be held on June 1, has been postponed to a later date.
It has been learned that the CHP's Party Assembly meeting, scheduled for June 1, has been postponed. The initial explanation regarding the reason for the postponement was announced through a notification sent to the party's relevant boards.
In the notification issued by the CHP, it was stated that the official letter regarding the appointment of Party Assembly members had not yet been received from the relevant public institution. The statement included the following:
Due to the fact that the official letter regarding the appointment of Party Assembly members has not yet been received from the relevant public institution, the meeting date for the Party Assembly could not be determined. Once the aforementioned notification process is completed, the Party Assembly meeting date to be determined by the Chairman will be announced separately.
At the meeting, it was expected that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was appointed as the CHP Chairman by a court decision, would determine the new Central Executive Board from among the Party Assembly members and that roadmaps regarding the Party Convention would be discussed.
NO REFERENCE NUMBER OR SIGNATURE ON THE DOCUMENT
It was observed that the PM (Party Assembly) notification note sent by the CHP Chairman's Office was written on letterhead and did not contain any signature at the bottom. It was also noted that the relevant document lacked a reference number, which is required for such official documents.
The document, which includes the phrase "Chairman," did not explicitly state who was being referred to.
KILIÇDAROĞLU AND THE CONVENTION KNOT
CHP's elected Chairman Özgür Özel, following the absolute nullity decision, had stated in his calls to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu that a party congress should be held as soon as possible, and even suggested that the chairman could be elected by the 2 million CHP members if necessary.
In his statements to Saygı Öztürk today, Özel said, "Furthermore, there are 4 different ways to go to a congress. We can do any of them. As long as there is sincerity, but I will not go to a congress. Let us make the congress application. Let Mr. Kemal take that step. Let the AK Party judiciary not allow it. Let us resist this together. Then no one can say a word to Mr. Kemal, but I am saddened by the anger directed at Mr. Kemal. No one can stand in the way of this anger because this attitude is one that avoids a congress. It is fueling the anger."
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, in a conversation with journalists yesterday, said regarding the congress, "Once the injunction is lifted, the congress will be held on a legal basis. We will talk to our legal expert friends," and responded to a question about his candidacy by saying, "Let the congress happen first, God is merciful, don't worry about what happens after that."
Stating that they planned to convene the Party Assembly on June 1, Kılıçdaroğlu also addressed allegations that some names would be "expelled" from the party, saying, "A party administration is conducted within the framework of law and with seriousness; you cannot do anything based on rumors."
