DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları responds to Bahçeli: That mud will come back and stain you

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları made evaluations regarding current developments at her party's women's group meeting in Parliament. DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları responded to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's remarks, "They have become servants of America." Hatimoğulları stated, "That mud will come back and stain you."

The DEM Party parliamentary meeting began with the slogan 'Jin, jiyan, azadî' (Woman, life, freedom).

Highlights from Hatimoğulları's statements:

I respectfully commemorate the Mirabal sisters, who were murdered by the dictatorship in the Dominican Republic on November 25, 1960. The Mirabal sisters left us such a legacy of struggle; from the Dominican Republic to Rojava, from Chile to Palestine, we are waging a struggle for freedom against the male-dominated capitalist system.

Greetings to the women who are on the front lines in the struggle against the government's multiple attacks. Greetings to the women fighting for their land in the Kaz Mountains. Thousands of greetings to the women fighting against the trustee appointments. Greetings to the women fighting for their freedoms and for scientific education in their mother tongue. Greetings to the Peace Mothers and the Saturday Mothers, who are at the forefront of the struggle for peace in the squares with their white headscarves.

In 2024 alone, 395 women were murdered by men. In October, 48 women were murdered. The deaths of 23 women are suspicious. The perpetrator of these deaths is the male-dominated order itself.

ROJİN KABAİŞ'S FAMILY ALSO ATTENDED

Rojin Kabaiş lost her life in a suspicious manner. If they expect us to believe that Rojin's death is not suspicious, they are mistaken. Rojin's mother and sister are among us. You will never fight this struggle alone; we will be by your side. Gülistan Doku was disappeared in Dersim. Her fate is unknown. We will continue to ask, where is Gülistan Doku? We do not want to lose even one more person. We can cope with these by organizing and struggling. We have no other option.

REACTION TO TRUSTEES

Trustees are contrary to the constitution and the European Charter of Local Self-Government; they mean the usurpation of the citizen's right to vote and be elected, and they are a political coup. The trustee is an enemy of the Kurds, an enemy of women, and an enemy of every opposition segment. It is also an attack on our co-chair system. They want to eliminate the steps we have taken in our municipalities to become women-friendly cities. Their first actions were to close our women's centers and departments. I will mention a few actions of the most recently appointed trustees. They stopped the entire "Jin kart" (Woman card) application for free public transportation in Mardin. They canceled the November 25 programs. No matter what they do, we women will continue to say that co-chairmanship and equal representation are our purple lines.

The government reproduces gender inequality in the central budget. In the 2025 budget, the share per woman is 139.3 TL. With what part of this will we fight against violence against women?

YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE POOR

They specifically avoid facing poverty. They act as if these are not their own problems. What kind of comfort is this, what kind of comfort? Who is governing this country? Are you not responsible for this poverty? Do you think you can get rid of the responsibility of budgeting for the poor by shirking it? You cannot escape the hands of the poor, you cannot escape the hands of the hungry. You will not escape the anger of a mother who cannot give a glass of milk to her child at home.

"SHAME ON YOU"

In İzmir, 5 children lost their lives in a fire. This government spoke as if it had no responsibility. They treated it like tabloid news. There is no emotion, no conscience left in the government. They can go as far as to comment on a woman's lifestyle. This cannot be explained by the economy; what is it explained by? A woman's lifestyle. Shame on you, shame on you.

There is a Kurdish question in this country and in the region. To those who say there is no Kurdish question, I state this by underlining it heavily. In the discussions that have been continuing in recent days, we have expressed our word on this issue at every opportunity. As the DEM Party, we are in favor of an honorable peace on a democratic basis. For this, the isolation in Imralı must be lifted immediately, and Mr. Öcalan must regain his freedom. We have insistently underlined that he has much to do for the peace of both our country and our region; we have been saying this for decades. We have fought against the aggravated isolation that has been going on for the last four years everywhere, and we will continue to do so.

There are those who write with their ink what is whispered into their ears at the palace, and who try to create discord regarding Mr. Öcalan's power and will for a solution. There are those who say that the DEM Party is not in favor of a solution. This is a slander cast upon us. What are you aiming for with this effort of discord, whose words are you writing? This language is the language of hatred; this language is Aesop's cursed language. Cemal Süreya says, 'There is blood under all the words.' We want peace to gush out from under every word. This language is the language of non-solution. No one can hold the DEM Party responsible for the lack of a solution.

"ÖCALAN MUST REGAIN HIS FREEDOM"

We, the Kurds, did not go out looking for a visa for cross-border military operations. We did not appoint trustees to the will of the people. We did not pursue a non-solution. We are looking for a solution internally. We see the solution in Ankara. We see it in a common life in Turkey in an equal and free environment. We see the solution in negotiation. Let no one throw mud at our struggle for an honorable peace; that mud will come back and stain you. As the DEM Party, we are in favor of an honorable peace on a democratic basis. For this, the isolation in Imralı must be lifted immediately. Mr. Öcalan must regain his freedom.

RESPONSE TO BAHÇELİ

Responding to Bahçeli's words, "Those who were the servants of the terrorist leader yesterday have now become the servants of America," Hatimoğulları expressed the following:

"We see the solution in a common life in a democratic environment. The place for negotiation is parliament. Let no one try to throw mud at our struggle for an honorable peace. That mud will come back and stain you."
