DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan evaluated current issues at his party's parliamentary group meeting.

CONTINUING TO COMMIT CRIMES

Finally, reacting to the appointment of a trustee to the Kars Kağızman Municipality, Bakırhan said, "Although I say 'Let this be the last time' every time I come up here, I want to start with good wishes and kind words, but the usurpers continue to commit repeat offenses. They continue to commit repeat offenses in this trustee matter. They haven't gotten tired or weary. The agenda of Turkey, the world, and the Middle East is different. While we are asking how we can ensure peace, they continue to appoint trustees without pause," he said.

''YOU SHALL NOT STAB THE TABLE YOU EAT BREAD FROM''

Stating that Kars is one of the most colorful cities in Turkey, Bakırhan said, "Nearly 12 ethnic and religious groups live together. Kars possesses one of the most exemplary grounds for living together. Kağızman is the same. People live together and respect the ballot box results. Our local administrations also have an inclusive attitude. Again, in a mosaic place like Kars, they usurped Kağızman, one of its most beautiful districts, and appointed a trustee. We start with Malazgirt, but one of the first places where Turks entered Anatolia is Kars, is Kağızman. There is a saying, 'You shall not stab the table you eat bread from, or they will call you dishonorable.' The people of Kars say, do not betray the table you eat from. I condemn the mentality that breaks down doors and usurps the will of the people. This path is not the right path. You are going down a wrong path. One should feel a little hesitant, a little embarrassed. I hope we will get rid of this conspiratorial mindset one day," he expressed.

''WE CALL EVERYONE TO DIGNITY''

Making a call for dignity, Bakırhan said, "Together with all our friends, we are living with the dignity of an important effort for the sake of peace. Dignity! For God's sake, what do those who appoint these trustees live with? While we talk about dignity, what exactly do they want to do by usurping, conspiring, and ignoring the ballot box results? Let them look into the eyes of the people of Kağızman and Kars without shame or hesitation. We call everyone to dignity. Abandon this path, withdraw your trustees, and let the will of the people manage the municipalities again," he said.

''WE ARE ON THE THRESHOLD OF A NEW BEGINNING''

Bakırhan continued by summarizing the following:

"We are at a turning point. We are on the threshold of a new beginning that will change the fate of the peoples of Turkey and the Middle East. Just as we get hopeful, the gentlemen continue to do other things. As Yaşar Kemal said, 'If we were iron, we would have rusted; we became soil and endured.' A thousand greetings to the Kurds, Alevis, and others who stand against this oppression and keep their identity alive. They have reached these days by enduring. You say, 'Let us be one, let us be strong,' yet you ignore the ethnic and religious groups that form that unity. How will you be one with the people you ignore?"

''WE CAN OPEN A BLANK PAGE''

"Today, we can set sail for a new century in a democratic, prosperous Turkey. The conditions for this exist. If they were a little sincere, these issues would be Turkey's main agenda in the coming days. We can open a blank page. We are ready for this. Living together means winning together."

"We are putting forth great effort and labor to open the door to social reconciliation and a dignified solution. Everyone's eyes are turned to the call that Mr. Abdullah Öcalan will make. Questions are coming to us from all over the world. There is great curiosity and excitement. Millions of people are praying, 'Let there be a solution this time.' This people now wants peace. They are tired now. They want justice and freedom."

''BARZANI SHOWED A HISTORIC STANCE''

"We are conducting peace diplomacy not only from Çanakkale to Ankara, but from the Middle East to Europe and the Australian continent. Our contacts in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah were very productive. Historic steps were taken for national unity. Mr. Masoud Barzani, one of the important leaders of the Kurdish people, clearly stated in our meeting that he offers strong support for Mr. Öcalan's perspective on a solution. This is a historic stance. Kurds are together. Despite your policies to divide Kurdish politics, Kurdish politicians said they are in favor of peace. Value this historic stance."
