DEM Party responds to name change rumors: PKK controversy continues!

DEM Party spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan made assessments regarding the party's agenda during a television program she attended. Doğan gave a clear message regarding the "name change" allegations that have been discussed in the public eye, especially in recent days.

Stating that the Central Executive Committee, parliamentary group, women's assembly, and party assembly meetings are continuing routinely within the party, Ayşegül Doğan emphasized that the name change discussions are not based on reality. She used the expressions, "A name change is not among our agenda items. Unfortunately, this is news that is not true. At least in the series of meetings we are holding right now, we do not have such an agenda."

Touching upon the situation of politicians who are abroad or in prison, Doğan expressed that a fast and planned legal process is needed on this issue within the framework of freedom of thought and expression. She summarized the process with the words, "For them to be able to return, the process we call legal steps needs to progress rapidly, and a calendar needs to be formed very urgently there as well."

RESPONSE TO ÖMER ÇELİK

Doğan responded to the statements of AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik as follows: “The organization has disbanded itself. I guess Mr. Ömer is unaware. We have entered a new era; despite this, we see insistence on the same language from the AK Party Spokesperson. He speaks as if nothing has happened. These things undermine trust.”

Ayşegül Doğan, who also made evaluations regarding the language of the political process, stated the following: "From the very beginning of this process, we said that the language needs to change. We pointed to the importance of a constructive, embracing language. Why is everyone not doing their part? Let the political institution do its part. Let the security bureaucracy do what it needs to do. Let the organization do what it needs to do. Let the Speaker of the Parliament do what he needs to do. Let the commission do what it needs to do. Everyone's role, duty, responsibility, and mission are clear."
