Parliamentary move from DEM Party for the peace process! Visit to Numan Kurtulmuş

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) deputies Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar visited Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş to discuss the commission planned to be established in the Parliament regarding the 'process'.

Following the meeting, the two held a press conference in the Parliament. Pervin Buldan stated that they would also visit Bahçeli, Özgür Özel, and Erdoğan within a few weeks.

Buldan said, "Within 1-2 weeks, after visiting Mr. Bahçeli, Mr. Özel, and Mr. Erdoğan, we will visit Mr. Öcalan in İmralı. We will continue consultations for this process to progress."

"THE ROLE OF PARLIAMENT MUST INCREASE"

Speaking after Buldan, Mithat Sancar made the following statements regarding the meeting with Numan Kurtulmuş and the planned commission:

"Our wish was for the role of the Parliament to increase so that this process can continue by strengthening with social participation and support, and to walk with firmer steps on the path to peace. There was a consensus among political parties that the way to achieve this is through the establishment of a commission. Discussions regarding the nature of the commission are also ongoing. We have no doubt that the involvement of the Parliament will place this process on a firmer foundation. The Parliament will play an important role in terms of legal guarantee and social legitimacy."

WHEN WILL THE COMMISSION BE ESTABLISHED?

Regarding the date of the commission's establishment, Sancar said, "The Parliament Speaker is currently waiting for written opinions from other parties. The establishment and working method of the commission will be formed by consensus. We expect the commission to take shape around a common view from all parties. We attach importance to the commission starting its work as soon as possible."

"THE KOBANI CASE HAS COLLAPSED"

Pervin Buldan responded as follows to a question regarding the reasoned decision in the Kobani case, in which heavy prison sentences were given to many HDP politicians, being released 13 months later:

"The fact that the long-awaited decision in the Kobani case has just been released and that it is a long decision shows once again that the Kobani case has collapsed. The reasoned decision that has emerged is very significant. I reiterate that all our friends, especially Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş, should be released. The Kobani case has collapsed."
