Demirtaş's 'insulting the president' trial adjourned
The hearing for the case against former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, in which four separate files were merged on charges of insulting the President, has been held. While Demirtaş, who is imprisoned in Edirne Prison, did not attend the hearing, the court adjourned the proceedings pending a decision from the Court of Cassation.
The trial of former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, which combined four separate files regarding allegations that he 'insulted the President' during speeches in Diyarbakır, Mersin, Ankara, and Mardin, was held.
Demirtaş, who is being held in the Edirne F-Type High-Security Prison, did not attend the hearing, while his lawyer was present in the courtroom.
HEARING ADJOURNED
The presiding judge stated that they are awaiting a decision from the Court of Cassation regarding the merger of this case with another file concerning Demirtaş.
Demirtaş's lawyer, who was present in the courtroom, requested additional time both to address deficiencies and to prepare the defense. The court adjourned the hearing to allow for the completion of these deficiencies.
