Dervişoğlu reacts sharply to Bahçeli's 'founding leader' statement! 'The day will come when he will be held accountable'

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu attended an iftar program organized by his party's Istanbul Provincial Presidency. Dervişoğlu, who broke his fast with party members and citizens in front of the Provincial Presidency building in Zeytinburnu, later delivered a speech.

Touching upon the early election debates, Dervişoğlu emphasized that the Presidential Government System fuels tensions and stated that the government follows strategies to win elections through such debates.

'WE WILL NOT BE A PARTY TO TENSIONS'

Dervişoğlu stated, "We will never fall for this game, we will not feed on tensions. We will not be a party to tensions. We will not create the ground for the government to feed on artificial debates."

Addressing the debates over Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma, Dervişoğlu said, "A President whose own diploma's existence is debated has been governing this country for 23 years, but no one opened their mouth. Today, it is clear that some debates regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu, and tomorrow regarding another political figure, will be brought to the public agenda."

Stating that their names are mentioned in the public eye, Dervişoğlu said, "Let İmamoğlu, Yavaş, and the İYİ Party candidate also compete."

'NEW PROCESS' AND 'FOUNDING LEADER' REACTION

Regarding the call by PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan for the organization to lay down arms and disband, Dervişoğlu said, "The İYİ Party will never allow Turkey's unitary state structure to be opened for debate."

Furthermore, reacting to the "founding leader" expression used by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli regarding Öcalan, Dervişoğlu accused Bahçeli of adopting the PKK's jargon.

Dervişoğlu continued as follows:

"Now he is defending himself. He says, ‘This is a technical definition. We don't hold the patent for this. This is a jargon of the organization called the PKK.’ We also know that this patent does not belong to Bahçeli. We are not curious about who owns the patent either.

You, Devlet Bahçeli, how did you internalize this jargon belonging to the PKK so much that you use it against the Turkish nation? This is what we cannot understand. When did you adopt the PKK's jargon so much that you are attempting to use the label ‘founding leader of the PKK’? This forms the basis of an ideological divergence.

I declare it clearly here. Our unity with the nationalist-idealist community continues, but from this hour on, we are parting ways with Bahçeli ideologically. My friends within the nationalist-idealist community, whose friendships I am proud of, will understand me correctly.

It is not in their heritage to carry the language of the PKK into nationalism. Therefore, I know that they feel the discomfort I feel many times over.

I am saying here that the day will come when Bahçeli will be held accountable for this. I am parting ways with Devlet Bahçeli ideologically; I have no problem with the community. I carry the desire for those who have devoted their hearts to the nationalist movement to hold Bahçeli accountable for this."
