Diplomatic move from Dervişoğlu regarding the 'Talat Pasha' debate! He met with Özel

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu continues his political contacts following his application to have the records containing the 'Talat Pasha' debate in the TBMM removed.

During this process, Dervişoğlu visited AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler and held a joint statement. Afterwards, Dervişoğlu headed to the CHP Headquarters and was welcomed at the door by CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Leader Özgür Özel received İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu at his party's headquarters. In his statement after the meeting, Republican People's Party Chairman Özel said, “Last week, our esteemed Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu had a request for an appointment. Due to his busy schedule, we were unable to hold it on both sides. Today, on the first day of the week, they visited us with their very valuable delegation. We hosted them with great pleasure.”

Özel said the following:

“WE WILL CONTINUE THE OPPOSITION SHOULDER TO SHOULDER, BOTH JOINTLY AND SEPARATELY”

“Once again, I would like to thank our esteemed Chairman and his valuable delegation for their visit and their condolences. A great grief of Manisa has turned into the grief of Turkey. At this point, both the İYİ Party's Manisa organization was by our side at every moment, and our esteemed Chairman followed it very closely by phone. At the funeral, many of our İYİ Party friends who came from both Manisa and all over Turkey shared our pain. Today, with this condolence visit, we have once again shared the same good feelings mutually. When I first heard about the incident that happened last week, you had asked me immediately afterwards, while it was still fresh. I said, ‘From time to time, there are communication accidents and traffic accidents in Parliament. This matter will be resolved in the back room. There is no problem that we have not solved in the back room with Chairman Müsavat and our other counterparts. Because we have no doubts about each other regarding our belief in the history of our parties, our historical perspective, the values of the Republic, the fundamental theses of the Republic of Turkey, and all the theses we jointly uphold in the international arena, we can overcome any kind of accident together.’ Since that day, we have all read the constructive sentences of Mr. Tekin Bingöl, who chaired that session, regarding his own sensitivity to the issue, as well as our party's sensitivity and approach, both in his statements on social media and in interviews he gave to respected journalists. Today, when our esteemed Chairman summarized the issue above, we once again clarified our positions on the subject in full consensus. We knew that there was no problem that we could not overcome with the trust we have given each other in many exams, stemming from the past duties of the two Chairmen. Today, the matter took place within this framework. From now on, the Republican People's Party and the İYİ Party will continue to carry out the opposition that needs to be done to save this country from the predicament it is in, both on the floor of Parliament and throughout Anatolia, in all 81 provinces, shoulder to shoulder, respecting each other's differences but always sharing the common feeling on fundamental values, both jointly where necessary and separately, but drawing strength from each other and giving strength to each other. We thank our esteemed Chairman and his delegation once again for this.”

When asked about MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız's statement that “Evidence obtained unlawfully is null and void,” Republican People's Party Leader Özel said:

“We have carefully followed Mr. Feti Yıldız's evaluations and his interview in the Türkgün newspaper. In fact, if an investigation process were being conducted in accordance with what Mr. Feti Yıldız said, we had previously seen his views that detention during trial is the exception and trial without detention is the general rule. If these were applied, no one would be in a position to object to being tried, fleeing from justice, or evidence collected in accordance with the law. The work being done today; the introduction of a secret witness institution, the subsequent forcing of some people to 'give statements in accordance with this' by threatening them with their families, children, and offspring, and the transformation of expressions such as 'I heard it like this, it was like that, I guess' into a smear and discrediting campaign as if concrete evidence had been reached, actually shows how wrong the method of producing evidence by scraping and forcing statements is, when evidence was not available on the first day. If a trial were being conducted within the framework of Mr. Feti Yıldız, why would anyone object to this? Then we will continue to demand only one thing. It is very important that the answers are heard by the public as much as the allegations. If a legal regulation is to be made on this matter before Parliament closes, when it is said in two lines that 'In such trials, media outlets can broadcast live if the parties mutually agree,' we have nothing to fear, shy away from, or be ashamed of. We have an answer to every question. If there is a question that cannot be answered, it is impossible for anyone to object to the manifestation of justice. As long as a fair, transparent, and lawful trial is conducted. We have vouched for Chairman Ekrem's innocence and righteousness. Our position on this point is extremely clear.”

“THE PARLIAMENT SPEAKER'S STATEMENTS ARE A CONTRADICTORY ATTITUDE”

Özel made the following assessment regarding Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş's words about the new Constitution, “The ideal is for it to be accepted in Parliament with over 400 deputies”:

“Numan Bey's evaluation is a contradictory attitude to his party's previous approach of ‘Even if there are 400 deputies, we will take the constitutional amendment to our nation and get their consent.’ If a constitutional amendment is to be made, there are situations where the whole society will reach a consensus, everyone will say 'okay,' and articles passed with full consensus have been quickly incorporated into the constitution in the past. These are important, but when there are so many constitutional violations, when even the closure of the Constitutional Court can be proposed, and when first-degree courts are resisting the decisions of the Constitutional Court, while such clear constitutional violations are evident, the approach of ‘Let's change the constitution with 400 deputies, let there be no referendum’ is not the right approach. I do not find it right for him to deviate from his party's previous stance that ‘Even if it receives over 400 votes, the constitutional amendment should go to a referendum.’”

“THERE IS A TIMING ERROR”

Regarding the interview of DEM's Cengiz Çandar, which included the words ‘Abdullah Öcalan wants to meet,’ Chairman Özgür Özel said, “I read Cengiz Çandar's interview carefully. The only thing I can say about it is; there is a memory, a timing error in the approach that Mr. Sırrı Süreyya Önder called me and said these expressions, and that I was hesitant about whether to give an appointment to the DEM delegation, and that we changed our decision upon these expressions. Namely, we had already said that we would give an appointment to the DEM Party delegation. But they had said they would visit all parties. Later, when discourses developed that they would not go to Mr. Erdoğan and that Mr. Erdoğan would not accept the delegation, we re-evaluated the situation. Afterwards, we accepted the DEM Party delegation. Because they had said they would also meet with Erdoğan at the end of the tour. As you know, that meeting took place anyway. We had evaluated our sensitivity on that issue, the hesitation in the process of not meeting with Erdoğan, keeping Erdoğan out of this process, and requesting appointments from other parties, in our Central Executive Board (MYK). This evaluation, this hesitation, is 20 days after the mentioned phone conversation. The evaluation that ‘Something like that was heard that day and then the appointment was given’ is a matter of some misremembering. I wish Sırrı Süreyya Önder were here to remind us of this as someone who lived through that process moment by moment. Evaluations other than that are not in my area of interest.”

“I ALSO CONDEMN ERDOĞAN WHO DOES NOT CONDEMN TRUMP”

Chairman Özel answered the question regarding Erdoğan's lack of direct reaction to the US attack on Iran as follows:

“He used a hidden subject again, consistent with the reactions his party has put forward since the moment the incident happened. They are carrying out this attack, they do not find the attack right. ‘Who is carrying out this attack?’ Hidden subject. Even if you ask Ömer Çelik, whatever happens, Israel is doing it. It is happening because of Israel. Planes took off from America, B-2s, they came by refueling in the air for 6 thousand miles. They bombed in violation of international law and returned. The one doing it is America. If it is to be condemned, America and Trump should be condemned. I condemn Trump. I also condemn Erdoğan who does not condemn Trump.”

Dervişoğlu's statement is as follows:

“The reason for our appointment request last week was a condolence visit. After the passing of my very dear friend, Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Bey, we had mutual phone calls, but we made the request with the desire to share our feelings directly with him, but Turkey's busy agenda prevented us from coming together.

Due to the intensity, some meetings are postponed because there are other duties that need to be fulfilled.

As you know, our contact and relationship with the CHP is known to the public, and I also have a friendship and a law of counterparts with the esteemed chairman that extends into the past. We also worked together in the TBMM.

We are constantly exchanging views on some positive and negative issues regarding the developments in the TBMM.

We had an application to the TBMM presidency regarding an incident that occurred in the TBMM on June 18, which can be described as a work accident for both of us. I informed him about that application and requested his support; they feel the same sensitivity at least as much as we do, and I would like to share with you my belief that they will provide the contribution that will be possible at the end of the technical work of our friends regarding doing what is necessary. We talked about both this issue and the fundamental problems Turkey is facing. We talked about Turkey's deadlocks in the field of foreign policy. We mutually shared the difficulties Turkey is experiencing in the field of justice, as the CHP is affected more than other political institutions by everything that is happening. A Turkey where injustice, unfairness, and lawlessness prevail is not a Turkey that can answer anyone's search and expectations.

We expressed to each other that our determination to take the necessary steps together so that the sense of justice is not damaged continues. These meetings will continue, Turkey belongs to all of us, and therefore, acting on the thought that every individual of the Turkish nation should fulfill the will to overcome all the negativities Turkey is facing together, I want the public to know that our political parties will not forget our responsibilities in that area.”
