Destici's harsh reaction to Özgür Özel: 'The word junta is an insult to the national will'

Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici, in a post on his social media account, reacted to the remarks made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel regarding President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the government during his party's 21st Extraordinary Congress.

"The use of the term 'junta' by Özgür Özel regarding the President of the Republic of Turkey, who was elected by the votes of our nation as the candidate of the People's Alliance, the government, and our judicial institutions, is, at the very least, a grave insult and sign of disrespect to the national will and the independent judiciary," Destici stated, adding the following:

"We remind Mr. Özel, the members of the CHP, and our dear nation once again that a corruption investigation is being conducted, that there is a significant amount of material evidence regarding the allegations, and that the state's security and judicial institutions cannot remain spectators to what is happening. I invite the CHP leadership and Özgür Özel, who has been re-elected as chairman, to act with common sense, to remain within the bounds of the law, and to confront the tainted elements within their own ranks, rather than dragging the ongoing judicial case into the political arena, inciting our citizens—especially our youth—who have nothing to do with the matter to commit crimes and confront security forces, or smearing the state institutions that are required to perform their duties regarding the matter. As the People's Alliance, we emphasize once again with determination that we will continue our path in unity, prioritizing the existence of the state, the integrity of the country, the future of the nation, and the national will, while remaining committed to the rules of law and democracy."
