DEVA Party Ankara Provincial Chair Akın resigns from his party

DEVA Party Ankara Provincial Chair Nutku Akın stated at a press conference held at the party's provincial headquarters that he had been serving as the Ankara Provincial Chair since September 19, 2023.

Stating that the problems recently experienced within the party and personal interests forced him to resign, Akın announced his departure. 

Claiming that the party's popularity among voters has declined and the risk of failure in elections has increased, Akın argued that Chairman Ali Babacan has failed to manage the process with common sense and has remained under the influence of a small group at the headquarters.

"WE HAVE NO HOPE LEFT"

Akın said he was not consulted during the process of determining mayoral candidates, adding, "I argued that it was not right to nominate Keçiören Mayoral candidate Hamza Aydoğdu while his legal proceedings were still ongoing.

I am a provincial chair who has been subjected to the intimidation policy of the headquarters. At a time when the 15 deputies who entered Parliament are not taking responsibility, the motivation of the organization is declining. We have no hope left for the future. 

For these reasons, I have decided to step down from my position as Ankara Provincial Chair. While I maintain my determination to serve our Ankara and our country, I believe I can be more useful in other areas where I think I can be more productive," he said.

Stating that Babacan always criticizes the government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Akın remarked, "You are doing even more. You are not practicing democracy within the party."
