Did Selvi call on Erdoğan to resign? Fatih Altaylı: 'Tomorrow I will buy him one and send it'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı evaluated the column written yesterday by Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, who pointed to the change in the CHP after the general elections and in the İYİ Party after the local elections.

While Altaylı asked, "Is he telling Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to step down as party chairman?", he continued his remarks as follows:

"Well, honestly, some people were saying a few things about this last week. Honestly, President Erdoğan has made a plan to step down as party chairman and is slowly warming it up, though I highly doubt it. Or perhaps Abdulkadir Selvi is inviting the President to resign from the AK Party chairmanship. I mean, he is probably trying to say, 'Hold an AKP Congress, have an election with multiple candidates, and don't be the chairman yourself,' because in both examples he cited, the chairmen changed.

If Selvi actually said something like that, I congratulate him. Tomorrow, I will buy him one from Gökçe Ciğer and send it. A heart.

He should eat a little more, because he has clearly eaten some already."

"IT COULD BE A CASE OF 'WE WILL DO WHAT IS NECESSARY ANYWAY'"

When reminded that Selvi was on Erdoğan's plane, Altaylı said, "He was on the plane, he was by his side. It was said that he stood by Erdoğan against Bahçeli. Maybe that was said to him on the plane, it's possible, we don't know. You know there was that 'Abdulkadir Selvi did what was necessary, you do it too, Ahmet' thing; maybe it's a case of 'Mr. Abdulkadir, why don't you bring up such a topic so we can do what is necessary anyway,' I don't know."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi used striking expressions in his column yesterday titled "Expectations from Erdoğan, Özel, and Dervişoğlu." Selvi's statements were interpreted as a call for President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to step down as AKP Chairman.

Selvi had said the following:

"The opposition is renewing itself. Every change receives a positive grade from society. The CHP saw the benefits of change in the elections. Meral Akşener fulfilled the requirement of the message from the ballot box. So what will the AK Party do?

The moves President Erdoğan will make from now on will determine the process. Because the nation wants to see that the message it gave at the ballot box has been received."
