Ekrem İmamoğlu announces: 'Our first goal!'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu attended the CHP Provincial Chairs Istanbul Meeting.

Making statements there, Ekrem İmamoğlu said, "We acknowledge that the Republican People's Party, of which we are soldiers, is the most important building block of Turkey. The existence of the CHP is at a very important point in terms of politics on a global scale. It has a 100-year history; our country and our Republic have a 100-year-old party, and this is very valuable. We have not resembled any political party, and we will not. We are not a political party that exists with a government or disappears when it falls from power."

Stating, "There will be those who try to intimidate us with penalties and pressure; we will never bow down to this," İmamoğlu said the following:

"Issues such as lies, slander, and black propaganda can neither distance us from each other nor divide us. In that respect, we will find the ways and methods together to overcome those who want to build walls between us and harm us with various false statements, by expressing our thoughts to each other's faces with openness, transparency, and sincerity."

İMAMOĞLU'S 2019 REMINDER

Giving a message regarding the local elections, İmamoğlu said, "Let us underline that the upcoming local election is one that we must win with a success far beyond 2019, and that we have everything we need to win. The ways and methods of politics are changing. Let us never forget that in the political understanding of the 21st century, a political approach that attracts different views and perspectives, that does not close in on itself, but rather thinks outside the box and outside the frame, will be successful."

"OUR FIRST GOAL IS THE LOCAL ELECTIONS"

Stating, "We must work very hard to win and put forward a brand new and very strong political design," İmamoğlu noted the following:

"We know that our first goal is the local elections, and Istanbul in particular. We are also aware of the responsibility of the duty that falls upon us. Secondly, of course, we know that we must develop policies that, under the leadership of our chairman, reveal a process that creates solidarity and a populist struggle, in contrast to the authoritarian populism that is trying to rise and take root in many countries, including Turkey."
