Call from Ekrem İmamoğlu to Erdoğan: As long as the chair isn't broken!

Ekrem İmamoğlu, who won the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral election again in the March 31 Local Elections, has received his certificate of election.

Holding a press conference in Saraçhane, İmamoğlu emphasized democracy and requested an appointment with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

HE RECALLED THE BROKEN CHAIR INCIDENT FROM 2019

“I am saying this clearly and openly from here. Whenever you wish and desire, there is an Ekrem İmamoğlu ready to talk to you, Mr. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, about the future of Istanbul; let me convey that.” said İmamoğlu, adding, “Then they say; ‘Did you ask for an appointment?’ I did, I am asking. I am asking again, let's see what happens? As long as the chair isn't broken.”

HE CALLED FOR COOPERATION WITH THE GOVERNMENT

İmamoğlu said, “I propose a division of labor to the government on local and national issues, and cooperation on all matters concerning our citizens, as well as honest and fair competition. Let us work together.”

"WHY ARE YOU NOT GIVING THE CERTIFICATE?"

Criticizing the fact that certificates of election have not been given to some district mayors elected from the CHP, İmamoğlu asked, “Why are you not giving the certificate to my young colleague Ali Eren Bingöl in Tuzla, where we won by a clear margin?” and continued, “We are learning that while the Tuzla Mayor's term has ended, he is awarding a 62 million lira tender to someone.”
