Ekrem İmamoğlu congratulates Çelik on his victory
Özgür Çelik has become the new Istanbul Provincial Chair of the CHP. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu celebrated Özgür Çelik's victory in a post on social media.
The race to determine the new Istanbul Provincial Chair of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and 196 convention delegates concluded as of 01:40.
Özgür Çelik, the Bahçelievler District Chair, won the chairmanship race against former Istanbul Provincial Chair Cemal Canpolat with 342 votes, becoming the new Istanbul Provincial Chair of the Republican People's Party.
In the election where more than 600 provincial delegates cast their votes, Cemal Canpolat received 310 votes.
CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE FROM EKREM İMAMOĞLU
IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu published a congratulatory message on his social media account. İmamoğlu stated, "I congratulate Özgür Çelik, who was elected as the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair. The winner was not just a young and successful party worker brother of ours and his team; it was also political maturity, courtesy, and inclusivity. We will work together, arm in arm, for Istanbul."
