New election song from Ekrem İmamoğlu: 'Bring it on!'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu shared his new election song on his social media account on his 231st day of detention at Silivri Prison. In the song, İmamoğlu challenges his rivals by saying, "Bring it on!" and also incorporates the phrase, "If Aleppo is there, the yardstick is here," which he had previously used to notable effect at a rally.

POST FROM PRISON: "IF ALEPPO IS THERE, THE YARDSTICK IS HERE"

Sharing his song on social media, İmamoğlu included a striking expression in his post: "If Aleppo is there, the yardstick is here."

Following his announcement that he would be a presidential candidate, a series of investigations were launched against İmamoğlu. Having secured victories against the AKP in all four elections he contested since taking office as the Mayor of Istanbul, İmamoğlu faced various legal obstacles alongside his candidacy process.

ARREST WARRANT ISSUED

The detention of İmamoğlu during a dawn raid at his residence on March 19, following the cancellation of his diploma by Istanbul University on March 18, caused a major stir in public opinion. The following day, on March 20, as part of the IMM investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, İmamoğlu was arrested by the court he was brought before on March 23 and sent to Marmara Prison in Silivri.
