New message from Ekrem İmamoğlu: “Salvation lies in solidarity”

Ekrem İmamoğlu, the presidential candidate nominated by the Republican People's Party (CHP), addressed the social impact of current developments in his latest article published at ekremimamoglu.com.

In the article, titled “The Remedy is the Nation,” İmamoğlu used a historical example to state that human values must not be compromised. Referring to the defense of Nazi leader Eichmann, who claimed, “I only did what I was told,” he wrote: “History has not forgiven, and will not forgive, those who gave the orders or those who obeyed them.”

İmamoğlu stated that the pressures experienced today are damaging not only democracy and politics but also faith in humanity.

Expressing that an environment of great lawlessness and injustice has formed in Turkey, İmamoğlu assessed, “Those who speak in the name of the judiciary, a mentality representing a handful of ambitious people, are subjecting our country and our nation to a severe period of interregnum.”

In his article, he also drew attention to operations where legal rules are not followed and the landscape where rights are destroyed, stating, “The right to personality, family, and innocence is being annihilated. Character assassination is being carried out by the judiciary. Spotlights and flashes go off; with detentions and releases, all rights are being razed to the ground.”

İmamoğlu emphasized that in such an atmosphere, many people choose to ignore what is happening and refrain from taking action, and that this must change. Addressing those who remain silent when they should speak out by saying, “Keep your helplessness to yourselves,” İmamoğlu reiterated that the solution lies in unity and solidarity with these words: “Remember: There is no salvation alone; either all together or none of us! The remedy is the nation. The remedy is the national will. It is the ballot box. It is a fair and reliable election. It is time to be the guardian of Turkey.”

HERE IS THE FULL TEXT WRITTEN BY İMAMOĞLU

"Eichmann, who gave the order for the death of millions, was not even someone who could make decisions on his own. In his defense, Eichmann essentially said, “I did what I was told.” But history has not forgiven, and will not forgive, those who gave the orders, those who served as slaves to others, or those who said, “I bow to instructions without question,” without distinction.

Humanity, conscience, and innocence are being torn to shreds. We are facing a great destruction that is destroying not only democracy and politics but now our faith in ourselves. In Turkey, we are struggling with pressure, persecution, and an indescribable level of arrogance and insolence. Those who speak in the name of the judiciary, a mentality representing a handful of ambitious people, are officially subjecting our country, our nation, and our institutions to a severe period of interregnum.

In the various operations taking place every day, legal rules are being destroyed. The right to personality, family, and innocence is being annihilated. Character assassination by the judiciary… Spotlights and flashes go off… Detentions, releases… In total chaos, honor, chastity, and all rights are being razed to the ground. These ambitious people, who act based on incompetence, position, status, and self-interest, do not hesitate to cause multiple losses in Turkey.

Those who experience this and those who watch it, some people, those who have a voice, those who should speak, choose to turn their heads the other way in this dire atmosphere. To those who see salvation in not seeing, not worrying, and not speaking… I am addressing you. To those who say, “We are not strong enough! We are helpless! We cannot do anything!”… I am addressing you: Keep your helplessness to yourselves.

But remember: There is no salvation alone; either all together or none of us!

The remedy is the nation.

The remedy is the national will.

It is the ballot box.

It is a fair and reliable election.

It is time to be the guardian of Turkey."
